As the NHS and social care system tackles the increasing pressure caused by constrained funding, an ageing population with multiple long term conditions and concerns to sustain and improve care quality, there is a major opportunity to develop further the role of pharmacists, including finding ways of enabling them to assume a greater role in direct patient care."
